We are thrilled to announce that Linda Oubre, Dean of the College of Business, has been selected by Watermark as one of the 2013 Women Who Have Made Their Mark!

Watermark is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a community of executive women who have risen to the top of their fields. Their mission is “to increase the representation of women in leadership roles by empowering them to make their mark in and for their companies, their careers and their communities.” One of their numerous initiatives in support of this goal is a patrons and protégées partnership program that involves pairing two businesswomen and fostering a yearlong mentor/mentee relationship to support career development.

Dean Oubre has been providing patronage to her protégée Anoshua Chaudhuri, an associate professor of Economics here at the College of Business. Dean Oubre stated “Working with Anoshua has been a very pleasant surprise; she is a member of the economics department here and her work crosses disciplines, looking at subjects like healthcare disparities.”

"It has only been more than a year but I feel as though I already know Linda, what she values and what she stands for. She is personable, she listens, she is perceptive, she cares and most of all she has the strength to speak up, speak out and stand up for you." Anoshua Chaudhuri said of Dean Oubre's patronage. "She is extremely entrepreneurial and instills that spirit in people around her. She is fair and consistent in her leadership. At a personal level, she has helped me make correct decisions about inter-personal relationships, career moves and inspired me to look forward and upward."

Dean Oubre was first introduced to Watermark by the former and first woman Dean of the Graduate School of Management at UC Davis, Nicole Biggart.   Watermark has a partnership with UC Davis revolving around an annual study of women business leaders in California’s 400 largest public companies.

“Watermark is a wonderful organization that works to increase diversity in terms of the number of women in business organizations in California – I thoroughly appreciate what they do.” Said Dean Linda Oubre

Dean Oubre and nine other women were honored by Watermark at their 2013 Women Who Have Made Their Mark Awards, held at the Oracle Center on December 3rd, 2013.
